The Dutchess – Ojai, CA
Brand Identity, Menus, Website, Signage
A neighborhood bakery, café, restaurant, and event space in a historic 1926 building—The Dutchess is a heartfelt tribute to Ojai’s community, cuisine, and creative spirit.
The Dutchess is a collaboration among friends and family rooted in Ojai, inspired by the town’s local farmers, artisans, and deep sense of community.
Named after the original oven from Bill Baker’s early 1900s Ojai Bakery—now a cozy fireplace in one of the dining rooms—the space is both a culinary hub and a love letter to its surroundings. The brand identity draws from the tactile charm of typewritten letters, vintage illustrative engravings, and the warmth of nourishing baked goods and Burmese fare. Every design element was crafted to reflect the restaurant’s layered story—historic, humble, and full of heart.
